Happy Birthday PawPaw!!!

PawPaw turned the big 54 last Friday. We were all going to be in Fort Worth for Matt and Shannon's wedding, so we just took his present to the hotel.
Bryson and I (with Jason's help :) made a bookmark for PawPaw. He doesn't really like gifts, and doesn't really need anything. This was functional and had Bryson's handprint and pictures- what could be better?! I love the way it turned out!
Here are a few shots from the design phase of the gift planning...
We also got him a new polo shirt.
Happy Birthday PawPaw! We hope you had a fabulous day!

New Digs...

I finally broke down and decided that Bryson HAD to have shoes. Don't misunderstand- he has had shoes- plenty of shoes- throughout his little lifespan. But none that were actually for walking. And since he has started walking I have had a really hard time finding shoes to fit his fat block-shaped most adorable feet! Finally my Mom sent the stride-rite shoes below. They fit perfectly! Then I found these sweet little crocs last weekend at the outlet mall. SO cute! Just wanted to document this little milestone. :)

Shannon's Shower

On the weekend of the 24th I traveled to Kyle for Shannon's bridal shower. I had a great time getting to see all of the women that I grew up with. Of course, they were really disappointed that I didn't have Bryson with me. But-- I got to enjoy a day to myself. I started it off by getting a haircut in New Braunfels, then went to the shower, then met my sweet friend Allison Henley for some shopping at the outlet malls in San Marcos. Talk about a perfect day! Here are a few pictures from the shower...
The Hostesses
Bride-To-Be with the Moms
Mrs. Lancaster
This is one of my favorite ladies of. all. time. She was my teacher from kindergarten through fifth grade. You read that right. I got to enjoy her classroom for SIX years! She was my alpha (GT) teacher from kinder-fourth, then she moved to the intermediate school and taught my fifth grade English class. What a treat to get to see her again!
I spent Saturday night with my parents then headed back to College Station early on Sunday morning. I definitely missed the baby and my hubs, but really enjoyed the time with friends and family. Now onto the wedding...

Bye-Bye!

Bye-Bye Bottle!
Hello Sippy Cup!
Bryson has officially been off of the bottle since last Friday. We had tried this once before- and had horrible results. Last Friday I just gave him a sippy cup with his milk- fully expecting him to reject it immediately. To my surprise, he drank it! And he hasn't had a bottle since! Finally an easy transition. Now if we can just get him to eat something other than Nutrigrain bars and fruit...
-----------------------
On a side note- I took Bryson to the doctor for his one-year well check a few weeks ago and haven't documented it yet. He weighs 21 pounds and is 30 inches tall. He is perfectly healthy and rockin' right along!

Wrapped around his finger...

Every finger and every toe, as a matter of fact. PawPaw loves this little boy. Here is a picture of PawPaw INSIDE of Bryson's tent. A tent that is meant for toddlers. A tent with a very small opening. PawPaw somehow managed to squeeze through that very small opening for Bryson's entertainment. What a good PawPaw...

Testing Phase

Something has happened. My sweet innocent little baby has disappeared! Don't get me wrong- he can still be sweet. He can still be loving. But, more often than not, we are dealing with temper tantrums and fits. When I took Bryson in to the pediatrician she noticed how active he is and how he let me know exactly what he wanted to do (and also what he didn't want to do). She said that he is forming lots of opinions right now- and let me tell you- he lets us know! Last night I took him to swimming lessons for the first time. This is a "Water Babies" type class where you sing, play games, and splash in the water. {It seemed like} All of the other kids did great. Not my child. He fussed and screamed the whole time! I spent the entire time just trying to keep him happy. Then I thought he was going to give me a big kiss on the cheek. He opened up his mouth really wide {like he usually does}, leaned into my cheek, and BIT me! Right there in the middle of the pool! What is going on here?!? Then when we got home he threw a fit because he didn't want to take a bath. Then he threw a fit because he didn't want to get out. Talk about wearing me out! I'm sure that this is a phase that will pass soon, but in the mean time we are learning so much about patience and standing firm. This kid has things figured out! Stacey says he's in the "Testing Phase". He's testing us- over and over and over again. Even through all of the testing we are so thankful for our hard-headed stubborn strong-willed all boy toddler.
No idea where he gets these traits from...
