Something has happened. My sweet innocent little baby has disappeared! Don't get me wrong- he can still be sweet. He can still be loving. But, more often than not, we are dealing with temper tantrums and fits. When I took Bryson in to the pediatrician she noticed how active he is and how he let me know exactly what he wanted to do (and also what he didn't want to do). She said that he is forming lots of opinions right now- and let me tell you- he lets us know! Last night I took him to swimming lessons for the first time. This is a "Water Babies" type class where you sing, play games, and splash in the water. {It seemed like} All of the other kids did great. Not my child. He fussed and screamed the whole time! I spent the entire time just trying to keep him happy. Then I thought he was going to give me a big kiss on the cheek. He opened up his mouth really wide {like he usually does}, leaned into my cheek, and BIT me! Right there in the middle of the pool! What is going on here?!? Then when we got home he threw a fit because he didn't want to take a bath. Then he threw a fit because he didn't want to get out. Talk about wearing me out! I'm sure that this is a phase that will pass soon, but in the mean time we are learning so much about patience and standing firm. This kid has things figured out! Stacey says he's in the "Testing Phase". He's testing us- over and over and over again. Even through all of the testing we are so thankful for our hard-headed stubborn strong-willed all boy toddler.
No idea where he gets these traits from...
Payback... I love you! Mom Strawn
ReplyDeleteoh, girl, i hear ya! i think we talked about this multiple times at the lake, but parker and bryson seem to be very similar. it's a constant rollercoaster with good/bad weeks and months. this too shall pass! strong-willed is the perfect word for our boys. have you read dobson's books? i'm reading bringing up boys now and getting strong willed child next. we can already see the determined, strong will in ainsley, too. no idea where our kids get it from either. oh well, at least we're in this together! :)
ReplyDeleteThis too shall pass! ( I just keep telling myself that!) Love ya!
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess I did something wrong the first time. See is this comes through. I SAID....
ReplyDeleteI think I know from where these traits came. I remember ..........
Oh man, can I relate! I think I have two on my hands, really can you have two strong willed babies. Hang in there, lots of prayers and extra breaths of air will be needed. I agree with Holly good books by Dobson. Let me know if you want to discuss, I have no answers but can relate.
