One For The Books

Yesterday was one of the first Saturdays in {literally} months that we have not had plans, company, or been out of town.  We have loved our jam-packed summer, but it was so nice to spend the day together hanging out as a family. We started our day by heading over to Erin's for a mini Fall photo shoot. She already has one of the pictures posted on face book and I can't wait to see the rest!
Then we headed over to the Wienerfest. You read that correctly. Every year there is a Wienerfest complete with all things for dog lovers and wiener dog races. They even had a wiener dog Halloween costume contest. It was outside at the Wolf Pen Amphitheater and the weather was perfect! Bryson had a great time watching all of the dogs and people, and kept saying "ruff ruff" the whole time. Here are a few pictures from our first-time adventures at Wienerfest:
Bryson did not like this bird! He was a pretty good sport but ended up almost in tears. Poor baby! {Confession: I wasn't totally comfortable either!}
There was a booth where you could pay $1 for puppy kisses. Of course being the suckers that we are we paid the $1. Bryson was in Heaven! Too bad our own dog would NEVER let him get this close to her!

Eric and Stacey had a Scentsy tent set up. It was fun to see Stacey in her professional seller mode and Jason enjoyed chatting with Eric.

They were having a Halloween costume contest on the stage. The white lanes are where the wienie dog races would be held later that day.

 Father and Son
...and last but not least a Donkey! I have never been so sure about these animals. Probably has something to do with one of my best friends in sixth grade being bitten and drug several feet before her dad hit the donkey in the head with a huge rock to make him let go. Not that I'm traumatized or anything. Just sayin'...  :)
Bryson enjoying the donkey from AFAR:
Pooped out in the car after the morning festivities. He took a two and a half hour nap when we got home!
We had a great time and will definitely be making the Wienerfest one of our annual family outings.
Later that day my Mom {and eventually Dad} came into town to watch Bryson so that Jason and I could have a real date. Real as in at night without our child. Real as in dinner and a movie. It has been SO long since we were able to do that!
So thankful for sweet Fall days with my family...

  1. A few things:
    1. I can't believe Bryson is saying "ruff ruff"! How sweet! Maybe Halle will love him someday. You need to bring him to see me very, very soon.
    2. He needs to learn to love fat birds.
    3. You need to let go of that time with the donkey; she's ok, so you should be, too.
    4. His crocs are precious, and he looks like you now (sorry, Jason).
    5. We miss all of you! (I'm still working on forgiving Jason... you know why)

    Thanks for sharing!!
